The correspondents and volunteers of UNTV Singapore underwent first aid training in line with Kuya Daniel Razon’s “Tulong Muna Bago Balita” advocacy (Rescue First Before News).
The community emergency preparedness programme which covered basic first aid skills, administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR, and fire safety training was led by the Singapore Civil Defense Force on Friday.
The primary importance of knowing the proper way of administering first aid treatment to save lives especially during unexpected situations was explained during the training.

After the sit-down lecture, an actual application followed wherein every participant was given the opportunity to conduct emergency procedures.
Each of the twenty five participants received a certificate of training after the programme.
(Our training in basic first aid, we might need it at any given day as well as our training for CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and fire safety training.)
(At least before we gather news, we can help first to the ones in danger particularly here in Singapore.)
(Now I am not just a cameraman because I’ve undergone rescue training. This is not just an additional to my skill set but ability in helping those in emergency that needs first aid.)

“Public service is the heart of UNTV. Thank you for Kuya Daniel’s advocacy, we’re not only newsmen but we are also able to help and save lives,” senior correspondent Robert Navoa stated.
Meanwhile, the Singapore Civil Defense Force expressed their gratitude for the interest shown by the group to take part in their community emergency preparedness programme.
First aid skills are essential to us to be able to save lives because in UNTV, life recovery is more important than delivering news.
